Can you remember how long you have been with your current utility suppliers for? These suppliers are the companies that provide you with important household facilities, such as electricity, gas, internet, and cable TV. If you can’t quite remember how long you have been with the same providers for, the answer is probably some time. In fact, most households tend to choose a utility supplier as soon as they move in and stick with them for years. But did you know that you could actually get a better deal and more for your money if you switch to someone else?

There are lots of families up and down the country who could pay a lot less for their monthly bills if they switched supplier. However, the majority don’t do so because they think it will be too much effort. That isn’t true, though - you just need to use the following tips to make switching utility suppliers as easy as pie.

Always Review Your Bills
Firstly, it’s necessary to constantly review your bill so that you are aware of exactly how much you spend on each utility. So, it’s a good idea to keep all of your monthly bills to track the cost. This is especially important with services, such as internet, cable packages, electricity, and other utility costs that could change each month depending on your usage. If you do have a number of bills that fluctuate from month to month, figure out your average expenditure.

Compare Prices

Once you know how much you are spending on average each month, you can start comparing prices with different utility providers. This gives you a good idea of whether you are paying the average price for each service. If you are paying slightly over the average, it could be worth switching to bring down this monthly cost.

Also Remember if you have a business see how much it would cost to switch over to a business account. My Hubby and I did this with our cell phones and we are now saving $150 a month.

Remember It’s Not Just About The Cost

Of course, some people don’t switch their utility provider just because of how much they pay each month. Some people look into moving over to another company if they aren’t happy with the level of service they get at their current utility provider. So, if you have ever been on the receiving end of some bad customer service, you might want to switch regardless of the price you pay each month.

Play The Waiting Game

Once you are ready to switch and have filled in all the paperwork, you need to be prepared to wait a few weeks. It can take anywhere between two to four weeks for the transfer to go ahead. During this time, you will still be paying money to your old utility supplier. Be patient, though - the switch will be complete before you know it!

Take Advantage Of The Grace Period

Once you have switched, there will be a grace period during which you will be able to change your mind and move back to your old supplier. Don’t forget about this as you may need to take advantage of it.
